Tagish Lake Gold Corp. was created on December 1, 2000 through the amalgamation of Omni Resources Inc. (CDNX-ORI) and Trumpeter Yukon Gold Inc. (CDNX-TYG). These companies had been in operation and exploring in the Yukon since 1979 and 1996 respectively. The amalgamation consolidated the interests each company held in the Skukum mineral property, 80 km southwest of Whitehorse, Yukon.

The Skukum Mineral Properties include the Mt. Skukum mine which, from 1986 to 1988, produced some 2,500 kg (77,790 troy oz.) of gold from 233,440 tons of ore.

Over $20 million Cdn. has been invested by the owners in the property to date. Tagish Lake Gold Corp has invested $6 million Cdn. In December 2003 a $2 million Cdn. diamond drilling program at the Skukum Creek and Goddell Gully deposits was completed.
